Meet Mdm Asnah, A Community Shop Beneficiary!

We had the pleasure of meeting Mdm Asnah during our visit to the Community Shop @ Mountbatten, and we were immediately struck by her warmth and kindness. She greeted us like old friends and made us feel at home right away.

Together, we explored the shop-for-free minimart concept by Food from the Heart, which is part of our Community Food Pack programme. The Community Shop initiative is dedicated to empowering our beneficiaries by giving them the dignity to choose what they need, and fostering stronger ties with the community.

As Mdm Asnah filled her small shopping bag with her favorite products, she shared with us her preference for cooking at home. She trusts her own food more than eating out, she said. It was clear that she takes great pride in her cooking, and we were inspired by her dedication to providing nutritious meals for herself and her family.

Before leaving, Mdm Asnah imparted some words of wisdom to us. "Always be kind and open to those around you," she said. "You never know when you might need their help."

Her story is a testament to the resilience and positivity of the human spirit, and it reminds us of the importance of supporting one another.
